Transmission Repair Shop

Without a functional transmission, the engine of your vehicle won’t be able to change gears. Both automatic and manual cars rely on a transmission, and at Tualatin Transmission, we proudly work on all types.

  • Automatic

Automatic transmissions use a complex computer system to switch between gears. Many drivers prefer the ease of driving an automatic vehicle, but when this system fails, you need an expert to fix it for you. Here are signs you need a transmission rebuild:

  • Rough or delayed gear shifting
  • Transmission fluid leak
  • Strange sounds
  • Slipping gears

As soon as you notice an issue with your transmission, bring it to us at Tualatin Transmission. Our skilled technicians will inspect your vehicle and determine the best course of action. In many cases, we can avoid replacing your transmission by rebuilding any damaged parts.

  • Manual

Manual transmissions rely on the driver to change the gear with the use of a clutch and stick shifter. While these transmissions are built to last, you may experience problems with different components at one time or another. Here at Tualatin Transmission, we are the local experts when it comes to manual transmission rebuilding.

Our technicians will run a series of diagnostic tests on your vehicle to pinpoint the problem. If you need clutch repair, we can fix it right away. We will also check fluid levels and look for any leaks in the cylinders. Come learn why we’re the top transmission experts in your area.

Enjoying a Ghost-Like, Quiet Life in Kinton

If big cities aren’t your ideal place to live, then you may feel right at home in Kinton. This small, unincorporated town is located just outside Beaverton, OR and is also near Tualatin. However, if you do decide to move there, you may find it hard to meet your neighbors. There are no current reports on the population, mainly because almost no one lives in the area. Some even consider it to be a ghost town. When you drive through, you’re bound to see many abandoned buildings, some of which are many decades old. If you remain quiet, you’ll hear the sounds of birds and the occasional passing car, but not much else.

Kinton was named for the original founder of the town, Peter Kidnt. When he settled the area, he intended to build a prosperous, thriving city. For many years, the area even had its own post office. However, the post office closed back in 1903, which also marked the end of growth for the town. Those living in the town today actually have a Beaverton address.

Freeways and major thoroughfares bypass the town, which is the main reason for its decline. Those who remain, however, enjoy the quiet life it provides. There is a small community hall for residents to enjoy, and the old schoolhouse is one of the main attractions. Of course, the main allure for tourists are the old buildings and almost vacant feel of the town. Even though a few residents still consider Kinton their home, it’s not a very well-known area in the rest of the state.

The majority of residents work as small, local farmers. They often gather in the community hall to talk about civic affairs, and the town is very close-knit. Even though there isn’t much going on in the area, it’s a short drive from busier cities. The area is part of Oregon’s wine country, and a few wineries are found in the area.
