    • Will Transmissions act different after repairs? Yes. Not always but in many cases when a transmission is rebuilt there are changes made in areas like the valve body, separator plates, accumulators, valves and more. These changes are generically called shift kits/shift enhancements. It is typically an updated flow to shift circuits or improved hydraulic clutch apply, hydraulic line pressure changes to increase flow and lubrication to components. Later model vehicles have computer adaptations that also relate to transmission shifting patterns. Rebuilt Overhauled and/or repaired transmissions require the removal and disassembly of the transmission in its entirety. The transmission is inspected for wear and damage, and then it is cleaned in a special cleaning solution, or replaced with another part depending on its condition. Most Parts that have friction surfaces, such as bands and clutches, are replaced as are seals and gaskets. -The torque converter is also replaced, usually with a re-manufactured one. It is well to know that your transmission generally still has the original design and components engineered at the manufacturer. While intentions are to produce a problem free transmission some manufacturer side issues cannot be overcome, foreseen, or prevented as these situations or conditions are simply at design level. Transmissions are overhauled with an overhaul kit. The main transmission stays the same, hard parts can still fail. We recommend replacing the transmission filter (if applicable) and fluid every 30,000 miles. 15,000 miles if towing or heavy usage. Heat normal wear material and moisture can cause unwanted transmission problems. Do not tow within the first 500 miles after a transmission repair. Computer controlled transmissions need learn time by driving them from cold to full operating temperature multiple times.
